Career Ladder

Published

Hello All :)

I need a Level 3 Project! Any Ideas? What have some of you done at your hospital and how did it work out?

Thanks for your thoughts

I think our career ladder works differently. It's designed to compensate for education then envolvment. For example: to obtain level 3 you must have BSN and 50 Points (obtained various ways... to include community involvment, CEUs, education, special projects) and at least 15 CEU. Level 4 must have BSN, RNC, 75 points and 25 CEU. etc....

Level 3 is $2.00... Level 4 is $3.00 etc...

Hello

It sound similar- level 3= 45points with a "project" no increase in hourly wage - bonus

I think we may have a similar career ladder, as we have to do a "project" to go from Level 2 to Level 3. There are other factors- educational points, certain number of hours worked, etc- but the project is the big one. Here are some examples of projects my coworkers have done:

~ one became a yoga instructor and started a weekly prenatal yoga class at the hospital

~ about 9 months before our last JCAHO survey, another nurse's project was involved with getting us all 100% in our charting- she started it off with a Jeapordy game, and continued it for about 4 weeks, with raffle prizes along the way to keep us interested ;)

~ for her Level 4 project, another nurse revamped & took charge of bereavement- she redid the fetal demise/fetal death policy, started a partnership with a local funeral home, started a memory garden, and made all the paperwork we have to do in these cases easier. She made a binder with examples of each form we have to fill out in pretty much every scenario, and is in charge of keeping our memory boxes & supplies in stock (there were occasions in the past where we would discover, too late, that we didn't have everything we wanted).

These are the projects that come to mind, there have been others. ALl of our Level 3 & 4 nurses are also responsible for heading up one of the councils we all take part in.

Hope that helps!

wow that sounds alot like my hospital except we don't have yoga

Thank you I like the jeapordy idea.. did the person check charts to see who got points?

I apologize for my misunderstanding. Seems you got good help from others here who know more about clinical ladders than I. I am glad to see that.

A good project, considering your field, might be domestic violence.
