I'm a 34 yr old wife and mother and currently work FT as a paralegal. I will be meeting with a student advisor at my CC this evening to create a plan but I'm stuck and I'm not sure they will be able to help. Our family will likely be relocating to the SE Raleigh (Garner, Clayton) area next summer. My plan is to start college here and transfer my credits when we move. I plan on taking the prereqs for nursing (ENG, MAT, BIO, CHE). I have heard great things about Watts School of Nursing but I read that you will need to take 18 credit hours at Mt. Olive - some of those courses are the same courses that I plan to take here and the cost is much higher. Can anyone recommend local colleges in the Raleigh area that have a good nursing program - preferrably one that doesn't have university tuition.

Within Wake Country itself there is Wake Tech CC - Nursing | Wake Technical Community College
On the NC forum there have been several threads explaining their point system.
Not in Wake but near by also check out Durham Tech CC (ADN), Vance-Granville CC (ADN), Johnston CC (ADN).

If you don't mind commuting, I go to Wayne CC in Goldsboro Nursing « Welcome to Wayne Community College | Goldsboro, NC, which is about an hour or so from Raleigh (depending on traffic and where you live in Raleigh). Whatever college you decide on you may also want to check to make sure the classes you're taking now will transfer.
