Cardiac Surgery OR pre op

Published

I have less than a year experience and just got a call back about this position. It is prn. I would very much like to work full time but I have to care for my son (he is school aged though) and my husband is in the military. So I'm finding it hard to make a variable full-time schedule work (which seems to be how the full time works around here).

My limited experience is in progressive care & cardiac rehab. However, cardiac patients are my passion.

Can anyone help with interview prep? Types of questions they might ask? Job responsibilities? Is this a horrible idea for someone with limited experience?? Thank you in advance.

You background seems to be very well suited for working with patients who are being prepared for cardiac surgery. You are familiar with rehab - the phase of treatment that requires the most patient/family involvement. You have first-hand knowledge of the types of problems that are most likely to arise, and how they are managed. I think that most patients would find it very reassuring to have a nurse that is so well-informed.

As for the type of questions in an interview? It depends upon what format they use. Many organizations have adopted behavioral interviewing. If this is the case, you will be expected to provide actual examples of your working experiences with various types of issue in response to a question that normally begins with "Tell me about a time when you ___________"

Best of luck on your interview!
