I am having a tough time finding a job as an RN due to the economy and my lack of experience. I graduated in may and only have four months of working experience as an RN. My LPN license is still active and I have a year of LPN experience. Should I apply for LPN jobs until the job market improves? Will this hurt me in the long run? I will be moving to Nashville, TN in a week and all the positions I've seen say they want RNs with one year of experience.

Wait until you get to Nashville and then start calling LTCs. Tell them you will take nights and you will be hired.

I am so sorry you are experiencing this difficulty.
Keep in mind that your first duty is always to your professional licensure - takes precedence over duty to your employer. IF you were employed as an LPN, this would undoubtedly put you into a confusing area of professional liability that represents the untimate 'catch 22'. You may still be legally liable to act within your professional scope of licensure - even though it may, at times, exceed the bounds of the job description created by your employer. YIKES! And, if they were fine with having you function as an RN while getting paid as an LPN, they would be in violation of the Federal FLSA (employment law).
Be sure you get an opinion from your BON before taking any action. Good luck.
You can't. You need to ask this in the international forum, but you can not come to the US to be an LPN and you are as affected by the retrogression as any other foreign nurse.
