cant find anything about this

Published

i am going to be attending cna classes in kansas and had a question that i havent been able to find the answer to. I would like to continue further into nursing after getting my cna, but i have a domestic violence misdemeanor. It happened in '06 and it was the dumbest thing ever. I was trying to keep my boyfriend at the time from leaving with my car, my money, and my cell phone, leaving me stranded with a 1 yr old and no way to do anything with her if something would of happened so he could go party. He pushed me down and hit me, but a cop just happened to be driving by and saw me defending myself, but since he saw my hit my boyfriend, i was the one that got arrested. Ive paid all my fines, finished probation with no problems and finished a 13 wk anger management class. Will this hinder me in my ability to find a job? im currently a pharmacy tech and havent found work in that field since it isnt in demand in my state. I've looked all over the kansas board of nursing website, and have found NOTHING!!!! if anyone at all could help me out, it would be greatly appreciated. thanks!

I've heard its on a case by case basis. It may be harder to find employment than an individual who doesnt have a criminal background, but I would go for it and disclose everything.. Do Not Lie about anything. There are plenty of discussions on allnurses that talk about this. It may not be specific to Kansas, but will give you an idea..

I searched discussion "nursing students with criminal background" or "nurses with criminal background" cant remember which one, but hopefully it helps...

You are not :aln:  "It may be harder to find employment than an individual who doesnt have a criminal background":hhmth:

:saint: :nurse: UM? :nono:

:nurse: a regular person with a lot of :heartbeat :redbeathe

now I will get off my :spbox: besides this is just my :twocents:

I searched this site with "nursing students with a criminal history" hopefully some of these will help not discourage I did not read them all.
