This question is for permanently hired nurses. When you are cancelled for low volume on a unit does your hospital use your time? When you have to call out for an emergency are you told that you have to use your full hours you would have worked? I have been trying to leave for a few reasons but I wanted to know if this is the norm for hospitals or just where I work. Thank you for your response.
If we were called off we could either use PTO or take it as unpaid time. If we call out, regardless of the reason, we are charged PTO for the entire shift.
