Canadian RPN trying to get into the US RN bridge prgramme.

Published

Hi everyone! I am seeking help/advice on the most efficient way to become a RN. I live in Toronto, Canada and graduated with a diploma in nursing. I heard that there is a bridge programme in the States that is less than 2 years for a Bscn degree. If this is true then I would love to move to the states and become a RN. How do you do it? can I work while I am in school? Any information is greatly appreciated.

Many programs that are two years and hospitals will pay your tuition for you to complete. I work at Temple, here in north Phili. While Phili is not as close as Buffalo and/or the burgh to Toronto, Temple offers free tuition to you, your spouse and your children.

Feel free to email me any further questions you may have. I moved here in the late 80s and have loved Philadelphia. Live very close to Fairmont Park. Unfortunately, little interest in doing a BSN or MSN. But, have you checked out Athabasca's MSN program ?

welcome to allnurses.com! we have a canada nursing forum at: https://allnurses.com/forums/f108/ . drop by when you can; perhaps there are other members who went the route you did.

good luck!

Hi thanks a lot for your reply. Do you think your hospital would be interested in hiring a Canadian for the purpose of getting my degree? I wouldn't mind moving anywhere really, I just want my degree. If it's not too much could you send me the full name and a contact info of your hospital so that I can contact them. Thank you so much.

A hospital cannot hire you an an LPN, there are no visas available for that. You must have the RN after your name, so you would not qualify for that program.

Please check out the thread that you started on the Canadian forum, I made some suggestions there for you.

to whom it may concern

Practical nurse, in ontario graduated in 2008, looking to work or go to school in USA (Florida or new Orleans)
