You do not need any experience to go through and be assessed and do whatever recommendations and get registered. I have been informed that Canadian nurses do not need to do any further study....If you need a job in Melbourne as new grad program for international students, let me know, heard they are open for applications until the 12/8 though depends when you are fully registered and with our new National Board it seems to be taking awhile.

Hello. I am also a new grad Canadian RN, looking to move to Australia soon. I am writing the CRNE in October, and taking a course until December. After that I am free to leave. I have visited Australia before and loved it there. Would you know of any hospital contacts or recruiters please? Thank you!

just google hospitals in the state/ city you are looking to move to and get onto the hospitals websites. Look for the overseas nurses section under the nursing jobs section.

Or you could apply to work for an agency and do PRN work and travel through different hospitals and see which one you want to work for.

Be careful what kind of visa that you are applying for as there are work restrictions with some of them.

Best of luck. Ask me if you need more advice

Hi. I was actually looking around today. Also, as far as I know, everywhere wants at least 1 yr of experience before they will hire you.

This is my whole dilemma. I can't get experience in this recession, if no one will hire a new grad. So many people are having this problem. I think my best bet is to move to the US for a while, because they seem to accept new grads easier. Some days now, I wonder why I bothered to do so well in school at all. Because they don't care. Not to mention, going BACK to school at the age of 32 and spending all this time and money for this nightmare.

Hi Joanna73,

Yeah it's really annoying they want one year of experience! I agree!

But if you're writing the CRNE in october, why don't you spend only one more year in Canada to gain experience and then you'll be able to work in Australia?

Where are you from?

Are you sure in your place you can't find work as RN??

It seems that in most of hospitals there are too few nurses...

see you soon!

As surprising as it may sound, the job situation is worse than awful all across Canada, and trust me, I have looked. Even with references (written) and a good resume, I'm still not getting calls. And all of the jobs are part time or temp. Most arent even looking at new grads. So I don't anticipate getting a job here at all. After the CRNE, I am looking into the NCLEX. That's the only way to go. New grads in Canada are not getting a chance. And the New Grad Initiatve is a joke, too. I've even spoken to a few recruiters here in Can on the phone, and the same story applies....Not hiring...nurses coming as far as DC to Canada....etc.....

yes and too few nurses everywhere for sure. also funding cuts and mass hiring freezes despite the nursing shortage. the government doesn't want to invest in their nurses right now.

Hi, could you give me some advise..

My sister is working in Canada as a Registered Nurse. But she would like to

come here in Australia with a working Contract. She has more than 10 years

experience in the field. So, any help would be appreciated.
