Hello,
can anyone tell me how to go about getting a Visa for work in the U.S? I have just passed NCLEX and also have a B.Sc.N. My first language is English.
thanks

I'm getting deja vu.
Go to http://www.cgfns.org and you can print off your application for a visa screen. You need this to get your TN visa under NAFTA. You will have to fill out a bunch of forms and have your school and board of nursing in Canada and the US fill out forms and send them to CGFNS. The process can take months, so get started ASAP.
To get your visa, you just show up at American customs with your visa screen, passport, proof of nursing licensure in the US/Canada, your job offer letter and I think proof of your education plus $55 US (the amount may have changed, but it's something like that). You can do this through any major airport in Canada (Vancouver, Calgary, Toronto, Montreal, etc) or at the border. It takes less than 30 minutes if everything is in order.
Then, when you arrive in the US your first stop should be to the social security office to apply for a social security number. It should take a few days and you can't start work without it. I don't think you can apply for it from outside of the country, but I'm not positive on that one.

:) THANKS VERY MUCH.....How Long is the visa screen certificate and the TN 1 nafta visa good for?
Visa Screen Certificate is good for five years. NAFTA visas are usually issued for one year but can be renewed quite easily.
