I agree with silverdragon and vyecheverria, get some experience while undergoing the licensing process. In the meantime, does your university offer study abroad placements for nursing students? Some universities, like the University of Saskatchewan's college of nursing offer an international study abroad program with practicums in Australia.

Hi!
I'm currently a 3rd year nursing student from B.C., Canada and I really want the opportunity to work in Australia for 6 months to a year. I know travel nursing is really great but I don't want to have to wait 2 years to get experience before applying for travel nursing as I've heard they will not take you as a new grad (not to mention it would probably be stressful).
Would it be a good idea to just apply there as a regular nurse (is that even possible) or does anyone have any information/tips around that they would be willing to share?
