Hello!
I am entering my first year of the Bachelor of Science in Nursing in British Columbia, Canada. I am curious as to what type of jobs related to nursing I can do in the summer breaks? IE - could I work as a care aide type of position the first year out of school? How about the following summers? I am very eager to start my career in nursing ASAP! I am so sick of doing various random jobs that have nothing to do with nursing :)
Thanks ladies & gents

You can work as ESN, employed student nurse after you finish the second year.

I know some of the students who didn't finish the practical nursing program with me were able to work as care aides. But now that they have the BC Care aid registry (I don't remember what it is called), I don't know how it would work. So if your first year includes personal care and a practicum you might be able to get something from your school saying you'd be qualified to work as a care aid? I am really just guessing tho, I'd talk to your teachers. Then definitely go for the ESN after your second year :)

If you go to UBC you will not be able to ESN until after you've completed 3rd, you can however be a care aid before that
