I felt sad today. We are having our second (or maybe third?) Wave in our hospital of Covid patients. I used to spend more time in the room with them, talking, laughing, trying to encourage them. Today I felt myself wondering when or if myself or a co-worker would have to sit with them as they decide to switch to comfort cares, or sit with them when they die. Can they see it in my eyes? I see their fear, and I hope that they don't see mine. Is anyone else struggling with all this?
Empathy and compassion is not a bad thing to display even if not meant to be on display. Thank you for being human and I just want to acknowledge your sadness. xoxox
