when we put our patients on the cath lab table, some of the docs want wrist restraints placed on them. Once they're placed on the patient, then they're tied to each other under the table in a slip knot, so that in the event that they need to be untied, one can just pull on the hanging strap. I can't find anything on jcaho's website and I would like to know if this is a no no. I am aware that you can use restraints for procedures, my question is regarding how these are being tied.
Good question. You're facility should have a policy on how to restrain, JACHO surely looks at that. Definately should be tied so that it can be removed in one pull, so that sounds right, I'm not sure about the tying the together under the table though.
