1. The doctor ordered Sodium Ampicillin 100 mg I'm. The label on the bottle reads Sodium Ampicillin 1 gran dry powder. Reconstitute by adding 3.4 ml sterile water for injection to yield 1g/4ml (250mg/ml) . How much volume should be administered?

What type of diluent are you adding?

2. Keflin 500 mg IV q6h is ordered. Supply is Keflin 1g . Reconstitute with 4ml diluent to yield 4.4 ml. How much will you give?

Desired/ Available x Quantity = X

1. 100 mg / 1000 mg x 4 ml = 0.4 ml

Type of diluent is sterile water

2. 500 mg / 1000 mg x 4.4 ml = 2.2 ml

Correct, and you also could have done the math using the final concentration given in the problem (250 mg/1 ml). Either is fine.
