Hi all,

I took ls3 for a second time yesterday and was not successful. An advisor told me I had to wait 120 days before I can retake the test again. It is my last nursing test and I had hopes of becoming an RN in 2011.

Anyway, I am wondering if I should ask to have it reduce or should I just wait the 4 months. As well, I'm wondering if I ask to have my wait reduce will the dean grant it to me for a second time in a row. Please help. Thanks in advance for any feed back.

I too, failed LS3 twice! I got reduced times for both. When I failed it the second time they only reduced it to 3 months instead of the 4. If you feel like you can prepair enough in a shortened wait time I would ask for it to be reduced! What have you use to study for this exam? Good luck to you!!

Hi, Thank you so much for your response. I mainly used a NCLEX review book and the practice exams. I don't know how I didn't at least pass the exam because I thought I was going to get an A. I took all my nursing exams over the summer with the exception of one I took in May so I don't know whats going on with this last one.

I really thought I had a good handle on the material. In fact I enjoyed it. I'm going to read all of the recommended readings. I'm just a little nervous now.

May I ask what you did differently the last time around? Thanks again.

Although I am sure some wait times are different, and it depends somewhat on where you may be testing, but here is an example of the wait:

I took my last exam in June and had my application into Excelsior by the end of June for the MPAC (known for longer wait time) In August, the MPAC lost 2 more testing centers in WI, and I didn't get a date until mid August for November, and because of the loss of testing centers, the NPAC (shorter wait times) is now about as long of a wait as MPAC. They are trying to open new testing centers, but that won't be happening for awhile I guess. Even with my date of November, it will be a push for me to have NCLEX over by December. That said, they do offer cancellations and I know of one girl that got one for end of Oct in Utica. Just wanted to give you a heads up that it may not be worth it to rush that last exam. If you are going to try and get it done, may sure you have EVERYTHING ready to go for your application, physical, labs if needed for your immunization profile, criminal background check, CPR (this cost me time, in a huge way!) and if testing in the MPAC, you will need a flu shot from I believe Sept onward. Good luck!

Loops, the OP was talking about LS3, not the CPNE. :D

Oh, I was just referring to her comment about trying to get her RN by 2011, & meant it may not worth to rush LS3 to get to be eligible, because the wait is so long to get there.

On my third try, I started over from scratch. I printed out a new content outline, I went over every area until I new it forwards and backwards. I used the practice exams, saunders NCLEX review guide, study group 101 notes! Just remember you know this stuff, take your time and relax!! You can do this!!

Thank you so much everyone.

Loops, your suggestion was great and it helped me to fill better too. I will work on those things during my wait. thanks again

brenan, thank you for your help again. I spoke to an advisor who gave me some pointers. I'm going to do what you did and start from scratch as well.
