Reason I ask is that about four years ago i knew someone who was hiv pos, and he stopped his dream of nursing because of it. I felt bad for him, havent seem him fof a few years, and dont know how he is now. and two people say people who have hsv-1 and 2 cannot become nurses either is that true? Trying to shed some light on people who have doubts.

I see no reason why this disease would prevent someone from taking a nursing job or any other job, as long as they are not actively ill. In that case, the individual probably could not work at anything.
I agree with you on that, but I think the reason he gave up is because he didnt want to take the chance of getting ill from the patients. Which I think sucks, especially because that is what he wanted to do. Its hard watching someone cry and go through the stress when they find out they have something like that.

Is it true that a person can't become a nurse if they get fever blisters (HSV)??? I'd be shocked, but really would prefer to know before I go down this road. I just took a CNA class and they said nothing about it, even though I had a fever blister.

Almost 50% of Americans have HSV antibodies by adulthood. It would be nearly impossible to exclude people based on simply having fever blisters. As long as you arent kissing your clients there should be no cause for concern.
