Hi, I am being offered a position as a Case manager for an insurance company. The position is in Newark, NJ and my duties include telephonic medical management of members.
I have no idea what the salary ranges would be in this local for a BSN with 16 yrs experience mostly in Home care.
Any input would be appreciated.
Thanks!

I come from a Home Care background and have a BS. I took a $20,000 pay cut to work as a Case Manager for an insurance company. From what I have found this is not unusual. I live in Rhode Island. Up here a good salary is around 60,000.
Hope this helps
Thanks for responding.
From my research, I am getting a range from $68K to $78K in NJ. I was just wondering what the averages are. When I worked for HC it was a per diem position, paid per visit, and I worked four days a week averaging around $60K.
No salaries have been discussed yet but I don't want to low ball myself or seem overly agressive.
Thanks again!

I expect you will not have much room to negotiate - if any.

I would expect around $55,000-60,000 no weekends or holidays, generous vacations and eventual ability to work at home

This sounds like what I will be doing, I am entry level and was offered 47k, and an excellent benefit package. I have no experience in the field so I'm not sure if that's a great salary. I was offered another job in case management the same day and the pay was about the same, except the case management job required me to take 24-7 weekend call .
