Go visit one and ask for a tour. Not like a group home, can have 180 or more residents, like an overgrown hospital. Different ones go to different lengths to make the physical layout more like "home" than an institutional environment. You can volunteer in one, or work in one as a CNA, before you get your LVN license.
..."The elderlys" makes me think of a herd of wheelchairs stampeeding across a plain...
With LVNs & RNs hiding quietly in the tall grass, biding their time...waiting to POUNCE on their unsuspecting prey!
Watching "Animal Planet" with your mother for 4 1/2 years straight will cause this - don't let it happen to you!

Seriously - another route besides LTC is Hospice. It's not all elderly folks, but the majority will be. Plus, LVN/LPN's do a lot of home health (as mentioned above), plus there are other types of facilities that are lumped under the LTC title (SNF/Rehab/Alzheimer's-Dementia) where elderly patients are common. While you might get to do some volunteer work, my guess is that once you've gotten your license you're probably going to find plenty of employment opportunities in this field; it's just not terribly popular, for various reasons.

Most of my experience in Nursing is in LTC. But I had to wait in the tall grass and ponce on the job. Lucky
Susan Snowflake RN waited with me.... I am sorry for that...Let us Prey....I'm sorry for that one too. OP the answer to your question is yes. You have the right attitude for Nursing. I wish you all the luck in the world.

I really can't wait to be an lvn i want to work with the elderly but which setting is that? Is it weird I like to work in a setting with elderlys? I feel like its nice to take care of them like its taking care of your grandparents.
