Can you look for Job?

Published

Hi everybody!

Can anyone tell me please if I can find a job without receiving my license yet? I took my test on Jan 05, I found out that I passed on Jan 07, so can I start looking for job right away, or should I wait until the board of nursing send me my license? Some of my friends told me that they received theirs after 10 days.

Please help me!

I know if you're in PA, you can get a job as a GN (if u can find one). You sould be able to look for a job now; especially if you're lised on the BON site. All a future employer has to do is search for your name to verify your license. The paper license does take a week or two.

I took my exam, saw I passed online the next day, and got my license the end of the following week.

Congrats!!! ;)

A prospective employer can find out your license status by phone, fax, or internet. They verify your license even when you present the license. You don't have to wait.

Thank U guys, I am going to look for a job right away. Any advice on what to do? I am living in Florida, and I am new in this city (Port St Lucie). Any advice will help. I start with the newspaper.

Thank you so very much.

First decide what kind of job you want: acute care hospital, long term care, doctor office, home health, clinic, etc. Then you can look in a phone book or do an online search for employers in the specialty area you want. Make yourself a list, then do some research if you can, and get your resume and employment papers ready: ID, soc sec card, CPR card, copy of latest health exam including TB test. Make a list of the employers in the order you want to approach them. You should consult one of the employment websites, like http://www.indeed.com or http://www.careerbuilder.com to find openings. Then go for it. Good luck.

Thank you Caliotter3, I will do that. I don't know where I would like to work yet. My first choice was acute care hospital but I heard they don't hire LPN. I will make my choice between the doctor office or long term care.

Thank you again!
