  1. Hi, I finally find a place that hired me after so many months of job search. But my problem is only one day orientation on the floor. I would like to know what lpn do on night shift. I have no idea because I had my one day training in the morning shift. Help me, any advice will be appreciated. It is so hard to find a job down there, I don't want to lose that one. Thank you. Please to what to do, what to expect.
  2. I am an LPN and I am so scared. I have 10 years old son to take care of. Nobody seems interested in hiring new graduate, when this nightmare will stop. Everyday, school is sending me paper, needed money (not that much), for this, for that. I am so ashamed to still leaving under my mother's roof at my age. Nobody want to give us a chance, everybody was new graduate too. I want to start working, so I can go and continue my education to be an RN. I have to put on hold for now. Oh God, help us.
  3. I am sorry, nothing yet still looking. I have my ny license now. My job search just started. I am sorry to take so long to answer you. I didn't check allnurses for a long time.
  4. I sent this message already, I am rename it to see if I can find somebody to help me. I am in NY now looking for a job, I am living in Brooklyn. Anyone has any idea where they are hiring now, I won't mind working in Queens, Bronx, Manhattan and Long Island area too. Or in Pennsylvania, somebody told me there are a lot of jobs down there. Any advice will be appreciated. I really need a job. I am an LPN.

Thank you everybody for your advice and support. I started my job's search already. If I cannot find anything where I am now I will relocated to another city, specially the one where I went to school. I believe that God will give me something better, where they will pay much better.

On May 21st, the assistant DON called me and told me that on Monday 25th I am going to do everything by myself, she told that they wanted to speed me up a little bit. My story I am a new nurse, I've found a job on April the 16th, working M-F 7-3 shift. On May 5th I took one week off my job for court duty, I came back to work on Monday 11th. Okay, after the ADON, talked to me on 21st of May, she called me to her office at the end of the shift on Friday May 22nd, she told me that the DON and her want to talk to me after I am done with whatever I was doing. I went to them and ADON told "I am afraid, you are not going to make it, because you work to slow and you are asking a lot of questions about the meds" the questions about the meds was reported to them by a nurse that precept me for one day. I was in shock, I am a single mother and after passing my board, it took me almost 4 months to find a job. I got fired because after about one month from my job, I finished after about 15 to 30 minutes after my time. The weird part is that day I've finished at 2:30 pm. I have to mention that I was doing treatment for about 59 patients that they asked me to do without getting any training. I did because where I am living it's very hard to find a job. I took my time to read everything very good to avoid mistake, because I didn't want to lose my license. Now I am back where I was, I have to start looking for a new job. It is wrong to ask question about a med that I am not familiar with before I give it to the patient? I was asking that nurse the instruction, how to give it to the patient because I wasn't familiar with that med. I know my story is too long; please I need some advice, what impact that being fired will have on my next job search? Thank you any advice will be appreciated.
  9. I meant to write, " I THINK NOT THANK":yeah:
  10. Thank you everybody, I thank that I will talk to the DON first, But should I go to her or should I call her. I was thinking about waiting to talk to her on Tuesday before I start my orientation. I am not going to work on Tuesday, I will have an orientation of the facility after that, they will tell me when I am going to start.
  11. I have been waiting more than two months after I passed my board exam to find a job, now that I finally found it, I have a bigger problem. I am going to have an orientation of the facility in April 14, I don't know exactly when I am going to start working. But I have a trial (Court day) in NY on May 6, by the way I am now leaving in Florida. I have to be there, because my lawyer told me if I am not present, I am going to lose the case. Do you think the DON will understand? Because I don't want to lose the job, and I don't want to lose the case either ( I have been hit by a car while I was crossing the street in NY, it is about almost 10 years), Please some advice.
  12. :luvnltr:I am from another country, I don't think that we, foreign people just come to America and think that you will do whatever we want without knowing a bit of English. When somebody comes to USA very young it is easier to pronounce the word better, specially if you have the chance to do High School over here, that is why you can see some foreign people speaks clearly than other, but when you are old (by old, I mean 29 to Up) it is not that easy believe me. I personally think that everybody is trying very hard. I speak two other languages and English, sometimes I am confused (Some words have the same vocabulary and the pronunciations are different). But I always try my best to communicate with my co-workers. If I don't know something, I ask and If I have difficulty of pronouncing a word I've never been ashamed of asking for help, I will spell it to you and you will tell me how to pronounce it. And I will continue to learn my English because it is a big part of my job. I always carry my dictionary with me. Even my 9 years old, always helping me. If I have to go to school to learn more English to communicate with my co-workers and my patients I will definitely do it. We are all good nurses, good healthcare providers, let see how we can work this problem out without getting mad at each other:yeah:. Peace.:luvnltr::prdnrs:
  13. Thank you so much!
  14. Thank you very much everybody, I was so scared that I will have to go bck to school and take the NClex again, for the license that the board chose to give to me for only six months, after spending so much times and money. I have no problem to go back to school but to upgrade my education not to do the same thing all over again. Thank you again!
  15. Hello everyone I moved my question from LPN/LVN Corner to General Nursing Discussion because I am very desperate for an answer, can anyone help me please. I have a very important question about my LPN licensed renewal, I took my NClex exam in January 5, 2009, I received my licensed about 5 days after, my licensed will be expired on July 31, 2009, that's mean I only have my licensed for only six months, by the way I am living in Port St Lucie, FL. I still can't find a job yet, everybody doesn't seems to give a chance to a new graduate. My question is what will happen to my LPN licensed if I don't find a job prior to the expiration date? Do I will need to go back to school and take the NClex again? Will the board will renew my licensed for me if I don't work for the six months period. Please help me, because I am pretty scared.
