Lpn night shift, please some advice
Hi, I finally find a place that hired me after so many months of job search. But my problem is only one day orientation on the floor. I would like to know what lpn do on night shift. I have no idea because I had my one day training in the morning shift. Help me, any advice will be appreciated. It is so hard to find a job down there, I don't want to lose that one. Thank you. Please to what to do, what to expect.

New RN Graduates
I am an LPN and I am so scared. I have 10 years old son to take care of. Nobody seems interested in hiring new graduate, when this nightmare will stop. Everyday, school is sending me paper, needed money (not that much), for this, for that. I am so ashamed to still leaving under my mother's roof at my age. Nobody want to give us a chance, everybody was new graduate too. I want to start working, so I can go and continue my education to be an RN. I have to put on hold for now. Oh God, help us.

Thank you everybody for your advice and support. I started my job's search already. If I cannot find anything where I am now I will relocated to another city, specially the one where I went to school. I believe that God will give me something better, where they will pay much better.

Got fired
On May 21st, the assistant DON called me and told me that on Monday 25th I am going to do everything by myself, she told that they wanted to speed me up a little bit. My story I am a new nurse, I've found a job on April the 16th, working M-F 7-3 shift. On May 5th I took one week off my job for court duty, I came back to work on Monday 11th. Okay, after the ADON, talked to me on 21st of May, she called me to her office at the end of the shift on Friday May 22nd, she told me that the DON and her want to talk to me after I am done with whatever I was doing. I went to them and ADON told "I am afraid, you are not going to make it, because you work to slow and you are asking a lot of questions about the meds" the questions about the meds was reported to them by a nurse that precept me for one day. I was in shock, I am a single mother and after passing my board, it took me almost 4 months to find a job. I got fired because after about one month from my job, I finished after about 15 to 30 minutes after my time. The weird part is that day I've finished at 2:30 pm. I have to mention that I was doing treatment for about 59 patients that they asked me to do without getting any training. I did because where I am living it's very hard to find a job. I took my time to read everything very good to avoid mistake, because I didn't want to lose my license. Now I am back where I was, I have to start looking for a new job. It is wrong to ask question about a med that I am not familiar with before I give it to the patient? I was asking that nurse the instruction, how to give it to the patient because I wasn't familiar with that med. I know my story is too long; please I need some advice, what impact that being fired will have on my next job search? Thank you any advice will be appreciated.

Help, help help please
Thank you everybody, I thank that I will talk to the DON first, But should I go to her or should I call her. I was thinking about waiting to talk to her on Tuesday before I start my orientation. I am not going to work on Tuesday, I will have an orientation of the facility after that, they will tell me when I am going to start.

Help, help help please
I have been waiting more than two months after I passed my board exam to find a job, now that I finally found it, I have a bigger problem. I am going to have an orientation of the facility in April 14, I don't know exactly when I am going to start working. But I have a trial (Court day) in NY on May 6, by the way I am now leaving in Florida. I have to be there, because my lawyer told me if I am not present, I am going to lose the case. Do you think the DON will understand? Because I don't want to lose the job, and I don't want to lose the case either ( I have been hit by a car while I was crossing the street in NY, it is about almost 10 years), Please some advice.

Doctors with poor English Skills
:luvnltr:I am from another country, I don't think that we, foreign people just come to America and think that you will do whatever we want without knowing a bit of English. When somebody comes to USA very young it is easier to pronounce the word better, specially if you have the chance to do High School over here, that is why you can see some foreign people speaks clearly than other, but when you are old (by old, I mean 29 to Up) it is not that easy believe me. I personally think that everybody is trying very hard. I speak two other languages and English, sometimes I am confused (Some words have the same vocabulary and the pronunciations are different). But I always try my best to communicate with my co-workers. If I don't know something, I ask and If I have difficulty of pronouncing a word I've never been ashamed of asking for help, I will spell it to you and you will tell me how to pronounce it. And I will continue to learn my English because it is a big part of my job. I always carry my dictionary with me. Even my 9 years old, always helping me. If I have to go to school to learn more English to communicate with my co-workers and my patients I will definitely do it. We are all good nurses, good healthcare providers, let see how we can work this problem out without getting mad at each other:yeah:. Peace.:luvnltr::prdnrs:

Lpn renewal licensed
Thank you very much everybody, I was so scared that I will have to go bck to school and take the NClex again, for the license that the board chose to give to me for only six months, after spending so much times and money. I have no problem to go back to school but to upgrade my education not to do the same thing all over again. Thank you again!

Lpn renewal licensed
Hello everyone I moved my question from LPN/LVN Corner to General Nursing Discussion because I am very desperate for an answer, can anyone help me please. I have a very important question about my LPN licensed renewal, I took my NClex exam in January 5, 2009, I received my licensed about 5 days after, my licensed will be expired on July 31, 2009, that's mean I only have my licensed for only six months, by the way I am living in Port St Lucie, FL. I still can't find a job yet, everybody doesn't seems to give a chance to a new graduate. My question is what will happen to my LPN licensed if I don't find a job prior to the expiration date? Do I will need to go back to school and take the NClex again? Will the board will renew my licensed for me if I don't work for the six months period. Please help me, because I am pretty scared.

LPN hourly pay rate
Hi everybody Can anyone tell me how much that LPN make an hour, specially in Florida? I am a new graduate and I am still looking for job, but nada. One more question: what to put in the application where they ask you what is your desired salary? Should I put "Negotiable" or do not put anything? Actually, I never put anything. I am in Port St Lucie, I think that I am going to relocated, because it is very difficult to find an LPN position there. Can anyone tell me how the LPN jobs are in NY? I am thinking of moving back there. Thank you everybody. I am desperate for a job. I think if I find a CNA position I will take it, I don't know if I will get hired as CNA with my LPN licensed.

Do you experience jealousy from friends/family members?
I am a LPN, I have a lot of friends that are happy for me and my family too. But my cousin's wife never stop telling me about a daughter of her cousin who is going to school to be an RN, she always telling that she not going to be a LPN, but an RN. She always said LPN don't get hire anymore. By the way she is a CNA. The way she talks, it like LPN's are nobody. Anyway, I don't pay too much attention to her, I know she is just jealous. When I said after working about six I am going back to school to be an RN, she give me:no: that look. I know after I will graduate as an RN she will start talking about some family's member whose in school to be a doctor:D.

What's so bad about working for the VA?
Does anyone know if the VA hiring LPN? because I'd like to work there. When I was in the LPN program I started my clinical at the VA (nursing home) (St Petersburg, FL), but somebody told me that they don't hire LPN anymore. I worked with a couple of LPN when doing clinical. Thank you:typing

Stopped at 75 questions...What does that MEAN??? nclex rn
I am so sorry to hear that you didn't pass. I was crossing my fingers that you will pass. You are a courageous person. I don't think you did anything wrong. The answer is stress and anxiety. And next time try not to over work your brain. I passed my Nclex PN using only one book, saunders 3rd edition. Try Susan's plan next time, because a lot of people said that help them. With her plan, you use only on book, saunders. I wish you good luck. I will keep you and your familly in my prayer.
