I am in the State of Calif. and this question
comes up all the time among co-workers, etc..
If you are a I.V. Certifed "LVN" can you hang
a K-rider? Would Potassium be considered as an
Electrolyte and yes the LVN who is IV certified
can hang it or would it be considered a IV push
drug and the LVN who is IV certified would not
be able to hang it? If you know what the Calif.
Law is on this please answer it and I need to know
the source of the information in the event I have
to verify it. I am using this topic for a class
assignment. Any Board Certified Help out there?
Any I.V. Certification Instructors from Calif out
there? Your help is much appreciated.
Sincerely
New Grad ! !

I always hung K series...where I worked was always very careful to what I would hang....but then again as long as I wasn't mixing it they'd let me hang stuff such as Pitocin in NS or whatever.

KCL is never considered as an IV Push drug. To do so would cause instant death. It must always be diluted, no matter what.
