  1. why on earth do you people WANT to work like that? I was very stressed being my first time at the place and having soooo many patients, and I also felt so unfulfilled as a nurse, no time to teach, educate, just enough time to barely get meds and do a so so job. I give you all high regards for doing it, because I suppose someone has to.
  2. I always hung K series...where I worked was always very careful to what I would hang....but then again as long as I wasn't mixing it they'd let me hang stuff such as Pitocin in NS or whatever.
  3. I am from sacramento, but currently live in PA. I hate PA, and miss Sac incredibly. I will be moving back in June and living with my parents in Ione until I can get my feet on the ground. I've had job offers at St. Josephs Med Center in Stockton. Personally I love Elk Grove, yes the commute sucks to sac, but only if your not a nurse, the traffic isn't bad if you get to work by 6:45am, cause you've just beat the traffic. I love nursing and how it's hours always seem to avoid rush hour. Move to sac!
  4. I work for Kforce right now, and it's been such a joke. Never never again. I spoke to InteliStaff where I'll be moving to and I asked them a lot of questions regarding problems I"m having with Kforce and they sounded great. They sent me a book worth of paperwork. I'm going to dot my i's and cross my t's if ya know what I mean to make sure. Has anyone dealt with InteliStaff that can tell me good stuff? I'll be using them in Sacramento, CA. Thanks!
  5. Hi I work for an agency in PA, and I just recently worked a shift at my first nursing home ever.....and I had 21 patients. I have read somewhere the ratio is 1:20. This is outrageous! There is no good way to give "good" care to 21 patients. Meds, vitals, blood sugar checks, and charting in 8 hours...ha ha ha. anyone else have high ratios like this? What are other states ratios?
  6. I know everyone has already posted on this. But again where I worked in CA it was at the very very minimum 2 days, and that was even rare. Insurance out there covers a max of 4 days, unless mom is having severe medical problems, in which they will continue the stay. That is just ridiculous that they kicked her out sooner, and the sad thing is the dr. wrote the order, I would seek to question the dr before insurance companies......they don't call patient by patient and say so and so has to stay and so and so has to go. It starts with the dr.'s order and lastly the nurses should have reinforced the stay with not only the fact of a c/s but that the baby wasn't feeding well either.
