Can I be a nurse practitioner and a nurse anesthetist?

Is it possible to have two specialties?

Edit: I am not wondering if it is possible to switch, I am wondering if it is possible to work as both specialties. Also, I know you probably couldn't because of time, but is it legally possible?

It's possible, but I think it would be difficult. Time-wise it would be easier if you were a full time or part time NP and a per diem CRNA. I've known NP's who only work two days a week at family practice or family planning. It would be possible to fit in weekends or another couple of days per week as a CRNA. If you want to keep up with the licensure and CEU's, there is nothing wrong with it.

What's your motivation for having two advanced practice degree? Is it that you like both specialties and don't want to choose one? It might be beneficial for you to spend a couple of weeks shadowing each specialty in a variety of settings to see which profession you really click with the most.
