"Not being competitive enough" is just some random assumptions that you hear from people who didn't get in. If a school only wants 3.8GPAs and higher, their minimum would be 3.8.
Most schools there's a lot more that goes into their decision. While they look at your GPA a lot will also look at your trend of your grades or even what exact classes brought your average down, some completely ignore if you had to retake a class or a W / I and only look at your most recent grade. Some rely heavily on interviews and essays.
I'm in nursing school now, after having to give them transcripts from another school with below a 1.0 GPA.
Apply. The fact that you've completed two degrees tells me way more than someone having a 4.0 GPA does. I know you follow through, but I have no idea if the guy with the 4.0 is going to stay.
Thank you so much for your input! These replies were very insightful and it gives me hope for my future in nursing.

Hi, here's some context to my doubts.
I've wanted to get into nursing since I graduated high school but I haven't always known what path to take to get there. I started out wanting to transfer to a UC but ended up looking into community colleges because of costs.
So I've finally finished my prerequisites for most RN programs but I've had to repeat Anatomy and Microbiology each. I've also had to take a W from both of them once. I've gotten a B the last time I took both classes and in Physiology.
For the LVN program I applied to at my local school, these aren't requirements. It was mostly Pharmacology, General Biology, Nursing Fundamentals, and Medical Terminology. I was able to pull As and Bs for these classes and get my CNA certificate.
I have two Associate Degrees in science related majors but they can't help me with a career in healthcare. My overall gpa is 2.95 and science gpa is 3.0.
I have been looking to apply to RN programs as well but based on the multi-criteria point system, I don't feel like my points are competitive enough to have a chance.
With all this information I'm sharing, I guess I just want some advice on what I should do from here, if I don't get accepted into any nursing programs. I live in Socal if that helps.
Any feedback would be appreciated.
