I just turned 26 and I recently applied for the nursing program at a community college.
It would have been a perfect time to begin school because my job at the time would have been extremely flexible with me. I work 45 hours a week and would be in school only part time.
My company is currently going through some changes and my position will no longer exist. I was offered a different position as a pharmacy technician. If I accept this position my new hours will be Monday - Friday 12-8. I truly appreciate the offer but I'm not sure if I would be able to work in classes around this schedule.
If I take this position, I could take a few of the pre-reqs online in the spring and summer and hope to take any early classes offered. My concern is once the technical and clinical classes begin, will I be able to take them?
It is important to me that I work because I live alone and pay all my bills by myself.
Looking for some advice.
Thanks!

It depends on the layout for your program.
For pre-reqs it is perfectly fine to work your preferred hours.
Once you are in the program, classes and clinicals are set in stone.
You have to ask how many days of clinical are you attending per semester AND do you believe you have time to set aside for studying exams.
It is possible, but your WILL need to be on top of all school work.
Generally speaking, 12 hours a week is what my program suggested.
BUT remember it is only a suggestion.
