Hi Everyone,
This is my first topic post!
I am studying Adult nursing and I found out that I am unfortunately a Hep B carrier ( devasted to hear this) which means I will not be able to participate in exposure prone procedures. My question is, will I be able to pursue a career as a nurse anesthetist? I really want to do this in the future, so if anyone can tell me anything I will be much obliged.
Thank you :)

Are you in the UK? Are CRNA utilized?
Hi JustBeachyNurse,
Yes im in the UK.
Are CRNA even utilized in the UK? I know there are only a select few countries other than the US that even recognize CRNA. I believe MACawake is a non-US CRNA and may be able to guide you.
The role is not the same as the US it's 9m post qualification. Can you complete your adult nursing credential?
Then you work as an assistant to the anesthesiologist and in recovery. There's likely to be exposure scenarios
International Federation of Nurse Anesthetists: UK Country page
The national organization BARNA is included in that link
It's anesthetics and recovery nurses. Not the same as the CRNA which in most states is an independent practitioner.
BARNA
Good luck

Forgive me but doesn't anaesthetics involve a lot of cannulating i.e. risk of needle sticks?

There's no CRNA role here in the UK, but a nursing qualification can qualify you to go on to train as a PA in anaesthesia, it's quite competitive to get into though.
i don't know about the hep B thing, why don't you ask at occy health at your university?
