Can I find a Nursing Director's number?

So I'm a new grad ADN nurse as of May 2017. Having a reallll hard time even landing an interview. I am enrolled in an RN-BSN starting November and just accepted a part-time position at a local nursing home but realllllly want to be in a hospital, specifically NICU, PICU, Peds.

I don't know being a male is something I should state? But I am. And I was told that would make this easier. Liars.

Anyway! I have read about a lot of success from people on this site after they cold-called the DON to introduce themselves. However, I can't find numbers for directors anywhere so I wanted to see if anyone knows where I should be looking.

Direct contact information for managers and directors is usually NOT posted by the organization. Usually people get this information through professional contacts.

You could also try calling the main line of the facility and asking to leave a message for, or speak to the DON.

Just because you didn't get chosen for a job doesn't make anybody a liar. If you want to make a good impression on nurses who might be in a position to help and/or hire you, keep your head in the real world and don't jump to such negative conclusions.

How many pediatric facilities have you applied to? Did you get interviewed? Did those facilities post something along the lines of "BSN preferred"? The specialties you are interested in are very popular and it may simply be that the facilities where you applied have enough BSN nurses available to fill their positions. Be sure you highlight your BSN enrollment in your resume and any applications.

I would suggest that you do some networking. For example, is there a local or state chapter of the Pediatric Nursing Society? Joining that organization and going to their local/regional meetings might help you meet people who can help you. (If you did that in my town, you'd meet a lot of leadership people at my local peds hospital.) Does your local children's hospital have charity events you could attend? etc.

Sorry about seeming negative but the Liar comment was a joke.

I will look into local chapters of organizations to see what's available to me. I also might volunteer at a hospital I've applied to. Been wanting to do that anyway, but schedule has been hectic. I have also applied to many med/surg and tele positions just to get my foot in the door but no luck yet. Essentially every position right now says 'BSN Preferred'. Have only had 1 phone interview so far and did not get past that.

Updated my resume to show anticipated graduation date of the RN-BSN. I'll try calling a few tomorrow to see if I can get through to the DON.

Thanks for the help!

Are you able to relocate (not sure how your BSN program is set up)? Many hospitals will hire an associate degree nurse and also offer a generous tuition reimbursement program to assist with getting your BSN (or whatever really). You just need to apply in an area where this is the case.
