where can I find a DIrect hiring hospital

Published

Hello, I just passed my NCLEX exam and I am a filipino Nurse. I wanted to apply directly to a hospital anywhere in California. I'm really having a hard time looking for employers. please advice me on what I should do.

I do have an Aunt who lives in Nevada and works in a Nursing Home, do you think it is advisable that I will give her my resumes and she will be the one to distribute it in all hospitals in Nevada ? PLEASE PLEASE advice me.

I have moved your post to the International Nursing forum, which is where we try to keep all the posts about working in a country other than your own.

Because of the retrogression in place in the US now, very few hospitals are sponsoring foreign nurses at this time. Please review some of the threads on this (Int'l Nursing) forum about the retrogression and issues with coming to the US. Basically, as of now, you are looking at a wait of five years or so just to have a chance of being able to come here to work.

You are going to find it almost impossible to get a hospital in CA willing to hire at this time directly or in any other fashion. With the retrogression in place, and having not even started the immigration process, you are probably looking at more than five years since there are so many from your country that wish to work in the US, and the number of visas issued per year has not increased.

You are going to find the same problem in Nevada as well, even with nursing homes.

One fact that you must be very aware of is that if the employer no longer has a job for you if and when the time comes for your interview, or they are even in business, then you lose out on all of the time waiting and have to start over again. Hospitals and nursing homes change administration as well as owners and things are subject to change.

Would focus on going to another country to actually get experience first.

Doesn't matter where you are from, everyone is affected by retrogression so same goes for hospitals and petitioning. Many are not looking at foreign nurses due to the delay, things may change but best you can do is ask hospitals and keep asking

Any Hospitals that you know of ?

And... is there any way I can find a "top", "ranking" of nursing agencies ?

You need to contact hospitals in the area/s that you want to live.

THank you for your response Suzanne and Sileverdragon.

I want to ask one thing, a friend of mine is an Immigrant in Philadelphia and she already passed the NCLEX exam also. She told me that She can work directly to any hospitals in Philadelphia because she is an Immigrant already. I wanted to know if this is True.

If she has a visa allowing her to stay and work in the US and she meets all BON requirements and passed NCLEX then she can work. Not all immigrants are allowed to work it all depends on the visa.

I think all immigrants are allowed to work in US. Otherwise, they are not immigrants, but only considered as temporty workers/student/etc, these are non-immigrant visa status.

But if they are in an immigrant visa status, such as K visa, AOS, they can work legally. Unless it is employment-based immigration, the primary applicant can only work in their original field, they cannot work in other fields before final approval of green card.
