Can I challenge the CNA or Med tech exam in Tennessee?

Published

Hello.

I was wondering if any of you might know whether I can "challenge" the CNA or Med tech exam in Tennessee?

I currently live in Florida, and happily my husband & I are moving back to Tennessee to work and live.

I did my schooling in Florida, and hold my certifications here. I know people coming in from other states can challenge our test, so hopefully I can do the same.

If anyone knows I would greatly appreciate the insight.

Thanks

If you currently have your certification in Fl, you should be able to transfer it to TN as far as I know. You may want to contact the certifying agency to find out.

Daffy,

Thanks.

I checked out the TN BON and it said that to Challenge the exam, North Carolina and Florida CNA's have to retrain and retest in TN. However, I scrolled down a bit further and it stated that to transfer a Certification only North carolina had to retrain and retest? The form was updated in March of 2007, so I am thinking the loophole I am looking for is to just simply transfer my certifications.

Do you have any thoughts?

Thanks

I was wanting to know the same question. I currently hold a certification in FL for CNA and Phlebotomy. I had inquired at a hospital for a CNA position and the HR manager seems to think I have to totally retrain for both certifications. However, I have been a CNA for 3 years and a Phlebotomist for nearly 6 mo plus. I am confused. I know you can get nationally certified in Phlebotomy. Can you do the same for a CNA? Any info would be greatly appreciated. We are wanting to leave FL asap.:nurse:
