Can I become a NP? RN on probation

Hello everyone, I am posting here to possibly get some correct information about my current situation.

A long story short, I was put on probation for 3 years 8/2019 for the DUI that I was convicted in 2017. I'm not here to make any excuses for my unprofessional action as a nurse and I am fully complaint with probation requirements.

Anyway I graduated from my MSN AGNP program 5/2019 three months before my probation started.

National board let me take the board exam and I passed a few weeks ago.

Now I am in the biggest doubt if BRNCA will process my application for NP practice under my RN license on probation.

I asked my BRN monitor initially and he said it is possible but some are saying I have to wait until I finish my probation

I've also heard that BRN will honor my NP practice with continuous of my current probation requirements.

If anyone have any ideas, please share thank you very much in advance

Hi,

In NJ's RAMP program, I know of several RNs who completed their NP programs and obtained their APN licenses and gained successful employment as nurse practitioners while in our 5 year program. The restrictions on their RN licenses and employment (no overnight shifts, no overtime, and required supervisor on site) were continued in their NP practice until they successfully completed the monitoring program. I would think this could vary state to state. Good luck!
