Can the hospital sponsor a nurse educator on H1B?

Not sure why you would want that............if you are an educator and have a MSN or PhD, then you can get the EB-2 classification and can get the green card faster.

The H1-B visas are already gone for this year, and not even available until 2008. And the deadline for that petition to be filed is April 1st, and that requires that you already have a Visa Screen Certificate. They have not been available for RNs for more than three years...........I would never, ever tell anyone to go for the H1-B visa.............it will not get you to the US any faster. And does the facility actually have others that they have sponsored under the H1-B visa?

Thanks for the wonderful and clear reply miss suzanne, that was very informative. I would guess the poster is one of the many Registered Nurses that are working as lecturer or reviewer, maybe a clinical instructor or professor in one the universities / review centers.

Ive heard of agency offering H-1B for nurses in Manila because they claim this is much faster to process compared to the green card.

There are no H1-B visas available in hospitals for nurses in the US. And for any agency to tell you so has no idea of what they are talking about. They have not been available for more than 3 years for nurses.

Educators in hospitals require a MSN in most cases, and next tquestion would be why a facility would offer a job like this to a nurse that has no experience of working in the US where we don things very differently than PI.

And right now, not even sure how they think that it is faster, there is a deadline of April 1st for the petition to be accepted forf 2008, the H1-B visas for the remainder of 2007 have been gone for months. And after 04/01, then it will be for 2009. They are just giving out poor information.

Another reason to always verify everything coming out of there, if it sounds too good to be true, than more than likely it is.

You will not find a website other than the material straight from the US government, US State Dept website for visas. They have not been available for more than three years, since nurses started getting fast-tracked for the green card.

And the deadline is April 1st for 2008, for the H1-B visa for employees that are covered under that, such as Physical Therapists, and Occupational Therapists, etc. And even if it were available, the nurse must have a Visa Screen Cerificate in hand to attach to the petition, as well as have a US license. Any temporary visa requires that. The VSC cannot just be submitted at time of interview for this visa.

But even better yet, you will be hard pressed to find a facility that will sponsor for the H1-B visa, it takes a full-time staff of three to handle all of the paperwork and you are not going to find a hospital willing to do that.

You keep hearing the H1-B visa mentioned in the Philippines but it is another thing to find a legitimate employer that will even consider that, and there are not any.

there is a facility in new york that offered me and my sister H1B visas. I am skeptical about it, but the facility in new york was the one who offered me this job and not an agency from manila. honestly, i am not in a hurry to leave my country. it's just that i was surprised to receive a call from new york offering me this job on an h1b.

well, they have filed for it already, i'm just waiting. i'll let you know if it's too good to be true.

suzanne is right, each year, the allotted number of h1b visas seems to be snapped up faster and faster. 2007 is no exception, as the fiscal year 2007 quota of 65,000 has been reached, four months before the october 1 start of fy 2007.

in fiscal year 2006, the quota for the h-1b visa was reached in august 2005.

employers can start applying for the h-1b visa on april 1, 2007 for fiscal year 2008 (note: the h-1b cap has been reached for fy 2007; petitions for fy 2008 will be accepted beginning 02 april, 2007 - because april 01 is a sunday). they can start working october 2008

This is why an H1B cannot be faster than on Schedule A (even w/ retrogression) as it is being portrayed by some agencies and it is just a temp work permit.

actually incorrect, the deadline for filing for the h1-b is the first of april, and that is the cut-off date for 2008.

And this was a hospital that did that? I still find it hard to believe as you cannot find a hospital in NY to even go thru the Green card process for an RN at this time, even for the past two years or so. Something is not adding up here.

Please keep me posted. But again, this H1-B visa is not for 2007, but is for 2008, provided that they get the petition in before next weekend.

And the next issue will be if it gets approved, that is something else entirely, and that is where you are going to find issues.

The H1-B open period is only for two months or so, and they are gone. And it has already started for 2008. It will be ending.
