I used to work at a nursing facility. At the time I was pregnant and on light duty. Unfortunately an incident happen with a patient and was sent to the hospital. The family of the patient sued the nursing facility and now they are thinking about suing me the investigation happened and I was suspended but as I was trying to explain to everyone the patient wasn't mine I wasn't supposed to have patients because I was on light duty. I was just wondering if the family can sue me for something that I didn't do.

The family can sue whoever they want. What matters is whether they actually file and whether you actually stay named in the suit. However, TOS does not allow us to give legal advice, so you should either speak with risk management at the facility or a legal professional.
