Can an EMT be hired to work in CT Hospitals as a Tech?

U.S.A. Connecticut

Working as a psych tech in an area hospital. Trying to switch to a night position closer to home to return back to school for nursing. Figure would go for my CNA/EMT cert., but I work variable shifts right now I only can commit to classes 3 times a week. Most in the area seem to be four or five days a week programs...any one know if there is a 2 days a week program in the state. EMT training is a lot easier to balance with work schedule...Any feedback on area hospitals and an EMT working as a Tech?

I went to New Britain EMS academy and it was 4hrs 2x a week (you could choose day or evening. They're pretty accommodating so if you needed to do evenings one week and days the next they'd most likely let you) plus one Saturday a month.

Tunxis's CNA program was fantastic and their next one starts June 5. Not too late to register either if you want to start now. It is only one night a week for 3 hours, plus lab/clinical one day a week. You get to choose whether you want to do your lab/clinical during the day or in the evenings, and they *may* let you switch it up from week to week.

If you can get both certs, do it. Most people will tell you CNA over EMT, but I wouldn't trade my EMT training/experience/skills for anything.

Thanks I heard about Tunxis. Probably wait till the fall. I have a bit going on now with bill's and will wait till I can use reimbursement from hospital I work at. I went to the NBEMS Academy really awesome school great teacher's. I just never recertified my EMT. They have an awesome paramedic program I heard.
