Can an employer ask?

Published

I applied for a new job and part of the hire packet included a medical history paper. It asks about my medical history, my family medical history, even if I've ever had anesthesia. Is this allowed?

Before you are offered a job, you cannot be asked health or disability related questions – including how many days' sickness you had in your previous employment...

At my job on the interview, they asked how many days I was out sick at my previous job (which was still my current employer at that point). This did not sit well with me at the time, but I went ahead and answered honestly anyway because I had nothing to hide. Thank you for clarifying it isn't allowed. :bored:

They asked about the amount of sick days used which is allowed by law....they didn't ask why you used the sick days.
