Can you complete 1 nursing degree at 2 universities?

Published

? for you ladies and gents.

Has anyone ever been able to begin a nursing program at one college and then leave that college and finish the degree at another college? We may be moving before I would finish my degree- perhaps 1 semester short. My husband thinks I can go to another school to finish it up- but, I highly doubt any school is going to give me my nursing degree- when I haven't spent most of my time or money with them.

? ideas or help?

Thanks-

A.

i suggest start looking into the colleges you plan to transfer to, and see if they will accept the credits from your current program...I heard people transferring their prerequisites. I'm not so sure about the nursing courses.

Hmmm...One semester means only 3-4 courses left right? maybe you can wait until graduation??

A guy in my nursing class transferred in but he had only one semester of nursing classes at the first school. However, we had RNs with two year degrees come into our class for only the final two semesters as advanced placement students so I don't see why you couldn't do it. Depends upon the schools and how well the programs mesh. Inquire.

Very few colleges in the country will give you a degree with only 1 semester in residence. Most accreditation agencies require at least 1/2 of the total credit in the degree to be earned at that school.

I've known many students who stay and complete their degree at the original school (after the family moved) and then join them when the degree is complete.
