Welcome to allnurses! :balloons:
Well, this is a nursing board, and an obstetrician/gynecologist is a physician (nursing and medicine are entirely different disciplines), but here you go --
You will need to complete an undergraduate degree (with great grades), score well on the MCAT exam (a national medical school admission exam), get accepted to medical school, complete three years of medical school, pass your licensing boards, and then complete an OB/GYN residency, which is typically four years of additional study/practice specifically in obstetrics and gynecology.
Most any undergraduate degree from any college will do to get into medical school, as long as you have done v. well in college and have completed the prerequisite courses for admission to med school. Most medical schools require one year of biology or zoology (with lab), one year of inorganic chemistry (with lab), one year of organic chemistry (with lab), and one year of physics (with lab). If those courses are not included in your undergraduate major, you will need to take them separately/additionally.
Best wishes for your journey!

I would speak w/ your guidance counselor within your high school. They would be able to lead you in the right direction from where you are starting. They could guide you on what classes you should take as high school student. They could also provide u w/ many resources on colleges and what you will need to get into those colleges. That is where u should start.

Why do you want to become an OB/gyn?
Since this is a nursing board, of course we have to steer you toward looking into Midwifery (as a career goal AND for your women's healthcare needs).

you will need to take the highest levels of math and science classes that you can and need to get very, very high grades. you must go to college, then medical school, get a medical license and then do a residency and specialize in ob/gyn.
this website will give you information on preparing to go to college: http://www.collegeboard.com/student/plan/index.html and eventually become a doctor http://www.collegeboard.com/csearch/majors_careers/profiles/majors/51.1102.html
these websites explain how to become a doctor:

Why do we "have" to steer anyone toward nursing??

Do you want to be an Ob doctor or Ob nurse? Since the other person explained the doctor part I will explain the nurse part slightly. First you must get a nursing degree. Either an associates or bachelors. Due to the fact you are coming right out of high school I would suggest going straight for the bachelors. With either of those degrees you can get a job in labor and delivery as a RN. However it is hard to get in right away because you have no experience. You may need to get a job on a normal hospital floor first for a year or 2 and then transfer to labor and delivery. After your bachelors degree you will need to get a masters degree. This takes different people different amount of times depending on how many classes they take a semester. After you graduate with the masters degree you are a midwife...and you can catch babies :) I have only finished the 1st tier of becoming a midwife...I have an associates. Next up bachelors and then masters.
