Camosun Fall 2017

Published

Hi,

Just wondering if anyone's heard anything re: interviews? When I last spoke with admissions at the start of January they said they were only just starting to go through applications.

Hey Hayleylovesnursing2,

I am applying to the Fall 2018 intake for camosun nursing. I was wondering if you could maybe give me your opinion on my grades. I applied with the following grades ; Geography 12 (96%) , Biology 12 (92%), Chemistry 12 (90%) and English 12 (84%).

Do I stand a good chance, am I a strong competitor or just another average applicant?

Thanks,

Manreet

Hi Manreet! Unfortunately the thr application process has changed from when I applied and was accepted as I have heard that it is now strictly grade based. Prior, it was the 300 students with the highest GPA were selected to write an interview test. Gpa was then disregarded and the interview test was utilized to select the 160 people who would be selected. Now that it is based on GPA only, I would say that you stand a pretty good chance, as long as you have all of the pre-requisites. Make sure you double check everything because it's easy to miss something if you don't read carefully :) let me know if you have any other questions!

(Edited to add: I know some people who were accepted last year who had a combination of A's and B's, and people who were rejected with straight A's, so it was really a luck-of-the-draw with the CASPR test.)

Hayley

Thanks for the help! Also, you mentioned that its GPA based only, do you know if they calculated using percentages or like more of a A+ A- based thing? Just wondering because if it is percentage based I'd be at 91% at which I feel pretty confident, but Im not too sure where I stand in any other form of admission calculation. I really hope I get accepted.

Thanks

It would be based off of the camosun GPA scale, which is different than the traditional 4.0 scale. You can find info on the website :)

Ohhh okay, that would put me at 3 A+'s and 1 A-, which I'm guessing is fairly competitive. Thanks for the info.
