I started this thread:

Looking to get started either as a nurse or an RT.

Total cost of ADN through Meric is around 47,500.00 is that alot? Also, they told me I would have be a CNA for at least three months to be considered for the nursing program, is that true?

Is that really a good way to do it?
It's a good way to do it, if you have the discipline. Some people are excellent independent learners, whereas others need to be in that classroom setting.

i sent them an email about their program; i can be independent if there is some kind of video tutorial that goes along with it?

there are a few drawbacks.

1. california is one of the only states that does not accept excelsior college.

2. you must be an lvn/lpn to be permitted to enroll.

You're very welcome.

I shall also mention that Indiana State University has an online nursing program that is cheaper than Maric College. Last time I checked, the tuition was in the $25,000 range. Online students from all over the country are enrolled in ISU's program.

I agree that it is a lot of money, BUT, I don't feel like waiting for years just to get into a Junior College program. I think the money is worthwhile given I can be working within 2 1/2 years from starting the program. Otherwise, in 2 1/2 years I will be just getting started in an RN program somewhere else, if I am lucky.

Is the program at ISU LVN to RN? Or is it a straight RN program?
