I started this thread:

Looking to get started either as a nurse or an RT.

Total cost of ADN through Meric is around 47,500.00 is that alot? Also, they told me I would have be a CNA for at least three months to be considered for the nursing program, is that true?

What the hell????

Specializes in acute, med/surg/ER/geri/CPR instructor.

47,500 is deffinitely alot of money.

Specializes in Case mgmt., rehab, (CRRN), LTC & psych.

I had given you incorrect pricing information in the previous thread, Jason. I was the individual who told you that Maric's RN program cost in the $60,000 range, so I apologize for that.

$47,000 is a pretty penny to spend on an RN program that is not regionally accredited. Maric College is approved to operate by the California Board of Registered Nursing, but it is not accredited by any legitimate regional body, so all credits earned will not transfer.

However, look at it this way. Education is valuable, and ignorance is expensive. You'll earn the $47,000 tuition back within 7 or 8 months of working as an RN in California.

University of Phoenix and Kaplan university will accept marics credits and you can transfer into their rn-bsn program

What the hell????

I thought mine was bad and I borrowed only about half of that!! WOW!! That is really expensive. But I am in Ohio.

Leslie

Specializes in ED, ICU, PSYCH, PP, CEN.

My ADN at a community college in Illinois cost me no more than 5,000 dollars and that was with buying every nursing book they recommended and extras to boot. I think it was really closer to about 3000. And it is fully accredited and I passed NCLEX so I am fully legal. Just got my Texas license so I can do travel nurse this winter.

Look around at some other programs before dropping all that money.

Specializes in ER, Occupational Health, Cardiology.

That is an insane amount of money!

Specializes in corrections, LTC, pre-op.

Excelsior is a distance nursing program, meaning that the materials are mailed to you. It is a "do it yourself" distance nursing program. Their campus is in New York, but their graduates are from all over the nation.

Is that really a good way to do it?
