I know it's a bit early, but I intend on applying for the evening/weekends program at SWTCC Spring 2012. I have a gpa of 2.75, 143 on nln, and an A in ap2 and B's in micro and ap1. Is there anyone on here that has been accepted to the program during a spring semester.. heard it's more competitive vs fall sem!!?? What are my chances???:uhoh3: Thanks

I just got my phone call as well!! :hrnsmlys: ...Good luck to all. I started down this road three semesters ago....Can't wait to meet my fellow classmates!!!

@dbowen Congrats!! The lady said to come to the Nursing building. Do you know where that is exactly?

She told me it was on walnut street behind the allied health building!! The nursing Annex building....I have no clue!!! I guess it will be exciting trying to find it huh!!

I think that everyone received their call today. The nursing annex bldg is parallel to Union. it will be interesting to see how this will work. After Micro and A&P in summer school, no science in high school, I feel like I have heard and seen it all.... how much worse can it be.

I want to know if there is anyone out there to give us info about the actual classes.....:nurse:

So I got a call today but I was working and didn't answer!! :( I tried calling back but got no answer so I called the regular admissions office and they said the nursing department closed at noon today and the will call agin Monday I'm so disappointed!! Monday feels so far away! Can someone please tell me what they said and when orentation is please and thanks!

It's next Friday, December 2nd anytime between 9am-2pm. It's not orientation, that'll be right before school starts. We're getting our acceptance package.

If you look up older forums on here like "Southwest Tennessee Community College Spring 2011" & the Spring 2010, current students gave some advice and tips.

Ok thanks! Did they say when we will register?

Never mind I just read the old posts!

Yay! I missed the call yesterday!! So I'm guessing I got in!!

When you accept your registration packet, you will be asked which class you prefer to register for, the 5 pm or 7:20 pm class, if you have a preference then it would be best to get there as early as possible to secure your spot in the class you want. You will also be given a choice of which day you would prefer clinic, usually Fridays, Saturdays or Sundays. Again, if there is a specific day you need, get there early.

Your first semester is mostly focused on teaching you to think like a nurse. You will learn about the nursing process, care plans, nursing diagnoses and how to do clinical assessments. Later on in the semester you will have the fluids and electrolytes test and I will encourage you to know it well because much of what you will need to learn in your second semester as far as pathology is concerned, you will have to rely on your understanding of fluids and electrolytes.

Many students bring voice recorders to class to tape the lectures. This helps review for the tests. I will share that most students don't have much of a problem passing Foundations, but come second semester, it's a different ball game. This program is HARD. It's good to learn good study habits early on, and a solid understanding of anatomy and physiology and pathology. Hope this answers some questions. I remember my orientation thinking what the heck have I gotten myself into, but, I give it 100% and I haven't failed a test yet. I was a 4.0 gpa before nursing classes and now I make B's and C's. It's okay though, I'm still on schedule!

Congratulations to all who have been accepted and good luck!
