Hi! I’m a military spouse and also recently had a baby (5months). I just hit exactly 1 year of nursing, and my employer (HCA) allowed me to go PRN right before I had my baby. I’ve been having a lot issues with childcare and called out last weekend for an incentive shift (I was picking up to go in as a help all nurse for 4hrs).. I recently found out my husband will be deploying which means I’ll have to resign from my position. I was wondering if HCA would ban me for future employment (at other locations) if I called out for the next two shifts?? If I had childcare available I would definitely go in, but with everything going on..I probably can’t.
I’m concerned that as a new nurse this will look awful to future employers. What would you do?

You will most likely be marked as do not rehire for calling out during your notice. I would also not be surprised if calling out for three shifts in a relatively short time results in disciplinary action. Double down on efforts to find childcare and try to go in for those shifts.

Agree with the last comment here. Your employment history would really take a hit. The only option is to stay on top of finding childcare.
