calling all june 08 board passers!

Published

hi..:heartbeat:heartbeat

I started this thread with hopes of inviting fresh board passers, like me, and also those who are ahead of us, who wants to help us out (as in from scratch!), to have a discussion about our personal sentiments, plans, words of encouragement, advice, success stories and the likes.. :D

Confused. Tired. Exhausted. Drained. not to mention feeling guilty of asking money all the time :imbar that's how im feeling right now and I know I am not the only one...

so, I'll start off by sharing my story,

While waiting for the result of the board exam, my friend:redbeathe and I were recruited by a relative to work part-time as technical assistant of a medical representative, we were thrilled because our task is to perform ECG and FBS to different areas like hospitals and health centers depending on where our medrep will assign us..

even though the pay was not much, 350/schedule once or twice a week, we loved the idea that we are still on the path of nursing :nurse: but at the same time, somehow, felt remorseful because we can only contribute a meal or so for our family everytime we have schedule..

So I applied in some call centers just so I can help my parents make both ends meet, got accepted but EVERY single time, got cold feet as well.. I just cant do it.. and Im glad my parents understood..

So when finally the results came out late of July, we decided its about time to apply at hospitals! packed our bags right away and got to every hospital we could think of... and then reality struck!!:no::no::no:

and I guess by now, most of us are already wide awake of the difficulty of crossing the bridge from a student to a fully pledged RN.. (its not like our professors ever mention the gravity of this situation at school, which I think is not fair at all)

Now, I am taking things slow, getting some trainings first while doing the TA thing with my medrep with hopes and prayers of someday being able to share my own success story...

WELCOME to the real world dear...

You are now one of the many unemployed nurses.... BUT don't lose hope! though things might get rough and every event of waiting is discouraging you to be an RN, just pray... Because there's always a light at the end of the tunnel...

Hi there mcnursie, same goes for me. I am also a june08 boardpasser. And until now I am still unemplpoyed. Yep, I too have undergone trainings like BLS and IV therapy. I know how you feel, i also felt guilty for asking my hubby money for the two trainings I've mentioned but there really isn't much for me to do, I mean rather that wait and sit around righgt? And I refuse to apply in hospitals where they will just get you as a trainee. Nevermind that I won't get paid, BUT for ME to pay a certain fee to these hospitals (as training fee)? Uh... that just won't work for me, well at least not yet. I just don't feel comfortable with that set-up.

Right now I'm just waiting for my eligibility. I've decided to concentrate on my NCLEX first. :D Then after that, I think I'll try Saudi. It's just a plan but I'm considering it. But I guess I'll just cross the bridge when I get there.

Thank you lenjoy. I know that's true, there is hope for us nurses.
