Pacific Cigar owns a cigar store here called "The Nurse."

The sales help wears nurses uniforms, etc. Thai Nursing Association tried to get them to change last year, but to no avail. They are still using the same name and are open. :angryfire Most people aren't aware of it, as it is illegal to advertise cigars and cigarettes over here. Would like to get something going so perhaps we can make a difference.

I attend to study in America but I want to pre-school nursing in BKK.

I am not a nurse in Thailand but I attend to learn in America. If I have education from USA, I can work around the world coz America education has accredited.

Still waiting for a follow-up response. Apparently, according to the Thai legal system, anyone can use the name the nurse, as there is no trademark patented. However, this store is using the logo of the Thai Red Cross, so they were supposed to be submitting a letter to them. They are the only ones that can legally take any action.

I will keep you posted....................and have a safe trip....how long will you be gone for?

They probably dont, otherwise, they wont allow themselves to be used in this manner - along with its negative connotation, that is, endorsement of a product that is not healthful. :angryfire What can be done is to write to Thai Red Cross about your observation and just to alert them that their logo is being used. I dont think this has the imprimatur of Thai Red Cross - only that, the board members have not seen it actually. :uhoh3:

Khun Jintana, the president of the Thai Nurses Association has brought it to the attention of the Thai Red Cross. She is waiting for an answer from them.
