I submitted my application last month and have received my evaluation. I have a total of 43 points. I am curious as to when we will receive our acceptance letters. I'm so eager to hear back!
This thread is for everyone applying for the CSUSM ABSN program, Fall 2023. I hadn't seen one, so I thought I'd make one! Feel free to share your stats, ask questions, exchange information, and discuss your experience. Best of luck to everyone!
aspiringchartingcat said:1. Nursing classes (starting 2nd semester) is only 1 day a week all day. Clinicals range between 2-3 days a week depending on the semester and can be any day during the week (ie. one semester it could be Wednesday, Thursday, Sunday, then next semester it could be something else). Just to be clear it does not vary within the semester, but vary between semesters and yes it can sometimes be on weekends as well if you're unlucky.
2. I'm planning on keeping my part-time job as I've already talked to someone that went through this program already and she said it's manageable as long as you plan ahead and make sacrifices (ie. she sounded like she only worked her part-time job, went to school/clinicals, and only saw her friends during vacation/breaks). She didn't do a CNA job and she just kept bartending for two nights.
3. She also told me several things to study ahead for, so I'm planning on just powering through as many topics before the semester starts. She doesn't have any of her old material though, unfortunately, but the advice she gave was detailed enough to get me started.
Thanks for the info! Do you know if everyone gets the same clinical schedule? Or if the school asks our preference on what days? My job requires me to work every Saturday and are not flexible about it.

That I don't know, but my guess is no since it depends on the hospital and you get what they give you. Not all of us will be at the same hospital, so some of us could be on MWF or SatSunMon based on what I read. I don't think you can negotiate with them from what I understand.
To make a facebook group using the facebook app, you click on the 3 lines at the top-left -> click on "See All Groups" -> "Create Group"
I haven't been admitted yet but can make a facebook group (working title "CSUSM ABSN Fall 2023 Cohort”) and then have one of you take over as admin/leave the group if no one would like to make a group.

That'd be awesome! Thank you so much. I hope you hear back soon!

Here it is! I used your cover photo from here. https://www.facebook.com/groups/209480188488661/
If you can message me or want to post it here, let me know your facebook name and I can make you the admin. I do recommend adding basic screening questions so bots/spammers don't join easily.
Hi everyone! My status changed to "ready to enroll" yesterday. I emailed my advisor to ask if I could take the two non core courses early (this Summer) but she said it is advised take them in course sequence. I also asked when we would get our fall schedule and she said sometime during the Summer. We will be automatically registered and sent notification to review our student center for the days and times. If anyone would be interested in a study group, I would love to get something started!
Hello everyone!
I sent my application in November last year and have yet to receive my evaluation sheet. It looks like they are randomly going about sending these out since people who have applied more recently seem to have received theirs already. Just wanted to leave my experience here in case others are curious like I was!

I feel so stupid for not noticing that those classes are spread out now into 5 semesters. I actually just looked right now to see if I could enroll in those classes in this Summer just to get them done, unfortunately all the sections are filled.
Guess I'll just power down and learn Fundamentals - Skills (done with fundamentals theory last month, at least the basics), a bit of pharm and write some more notecards. I really hope to finish this stuff before July 22nd.
