I think most of the students who did not make the videos already went with other schools since CSUN is being so late and still hasn’t finished the selection yet. I doubt it if anyone would miss that email since people who are trying to get in are very anxious to know the results.

The most recent email from the Program Manager Yvonne really upset me. I just don’t know what to say. I believe everyone who wants get into CSUN ABSN program has a due diligence to CHECK THEIR EMAIL on a daily basis regardless of weekends or holidays. Everyone who received the email had a fair chance to submit before the deadline. It’s not the university’s fault if those individuals were on vacation/out of town having fun, partying, dancing, drinking, whatever.....and did not check their emails.
This is a competitive program, and people are seriously desperate to get in! With the enormous amount of applications they have received this cycle alone I am furious that they reopened/extended the deadline to allow those student that “complained” an opportunity to submit their video. What about those that were on their sh**, check their emails daily, used whatever means they had to submit the video on time, regardless of a holiday weekend? If I was on vacation, I would have excused myself from the festivities and went to the closet, my car, a room, the park, whatever I had to do to find a quite area somewhere to get my video in on time. The admissions committee was even generous enough to give us a whole EXTRA DAY (6 days instead of 5) after the holiday to get the video in.
The email explicitly stated:
“ Please understand that videos after the due date will not be accepted and may jeopardize your selection for admission to the program.”
That’s insane the university is not standing by this statement! 800 applicants for 35 spots!
From another perspective, maybe this extension is a blessing for those that were not able to turn the video in for whatever reason. I may be upset, but I’m sure the decision has already been made on who getting in and who’s not at this point.

I also felt pretty upset this morning when I read the email. I completely agree with you because I struggled to find a place and time to make my video and did everything possible and I know I could have turned in a better video. I don’t think “were out of town” is a valid reason either. Anyway, good luck to everyone!

PREACH! I feel the same exact way. They are making it not fair for those of us who submitted ON TIME.

Agreed. On the other hand, some people may have planned vacations in advance thinking that CSUN would be on time with getting acceptance letters out ("CSUN gets letters out early May, I'll go on a backpacking trip for 9 days memorial day weekend") only to be surprised when they returned that a new step was needed in the already overdue application process. In other words, the unfairness actually kind of stems from CSUN...
I think this is also evidence that the videos are for the top applicants. I would think that if someone from the lowest percentile of applicants missed the video that they would just be out.

I was surprised when saw this email. If this is true, shouldn’t they notify another applicants that they are not considered for the next round ?

It's only a guess. In the past people who hadn't
Interviewed were accepted.
So is she saying if we got an interview we made it to the next round or the people who got extended interview time are most likely getting in ? So confused

Honestly you guys, I would just stop worrying and stop stressing. It’s in their hands now and there’s not much we can control at this point. We keep hearing different things about the process and it’s driving us all crazy. Just focus on what you can control and try and not let the process stress you out. At least that’s what I am trying to do. Good luck to everyone!
