Hi Everyone!

I wanted to create this forum because I haven't seen one for this cycle. I figured it would be a good way to connect with others who are going through the application process, are scared, nervous, excited, or lost. (or maybe all of the above) Also just a great way to stay updated with the application cycle. The application closes on Nov 1st! ?

Would love if anyone wanted to introduce themselves, and why they decided to apply to CSUF ABSN

I will start!

I am in my last semester of college! WOO WOO! Graduating with my bachelors in Kinesiology, at CSUF. I chose CSUF because besides the obvious fact that I am already going attending this school, I would love to stay local! PLUS I am applying to as many schools as I can. (Just hoping I get into one ;-;)

I just submitted my a few days ago (I know late) but I unfortunately had a lot of unexpected events happens in the past two month that caused a huge delay ? so I am hoping it doesn't affect my application too much.

Good luck everyone, I wish we could all just get accepted.

My friend told me many universities like to ghost people which doesn't make them look good imo 🙄

That doesn't make them look good at all 😕

Hi Everyone! Hope you're all doing good! I just received my acceptance email, hope you all did too 🙂 I just had a question I'm torn between CSUF ABSN nursing program or CSUSM ABSN temecula campus nursing program. Which one one would you all choose? Which has better opportunities and clinical sites. If you could let me know what you think that would be great, thanks!

OMGGGGG IM IN THE EXACT SAME BOAT!

As of right now, I am leaning towards CSUSM. It is an amazing school with great clinical opportunities. Best of luck in your future endeavors and congrats on getting into 2 programs!

I am not sure if you can direct message on here, but if you choose CSUSM I would love to get in contact with you.

Which school are you currently leaning towards!

Debating between Fullerton and Western. I'm doing the background check for Fullerton to keep my spot, and I'll decide by Western's deadline (in two-ish weeks).

I am so happy I found out about allnurses. I wish I was able to keep up with this forum earlier throughout my application journey. I am also debating between CSUF & Western. It is nice to know someone else is in the same boat as me.

Western is affiliated with some amazing clinical partners. Since I already have a Bachelors degree, an Entry Level Masters Program allows more flexibility for opportunities later down the road (plus the same amount of years and you are obtaining a Masters! The commute will be slightly further since I am an OC resident, but it does not bother me that much it is still very local!!

What are your thoughts on both programs? Any pros/cons that you were able to form. Congrats again!!

Congrats to you too!

I talked to a Western grad and a current student in Fullerton's traditional BSN program and both were enthusiastic about their programs. The Western grad graduated about ten years ago and she said her cohort was about 40. She really liked how much one-on-one time she had with her professors and expressed reservations about the new cohort size of 100. She did say that she felt that having a Masters degree gave her a little bit of an edge but said some students in her cohort still had trouble finding work after graduating and had to look for jobs further away like in Lancaster. (This was ten years ago when I think the nursing market was more saturated.) She said ultimately the goal is to pass your NCLEX and it doesn't really matter which school gets you to that point.

The Fullerton student is going to graduate this year and said during her last semester, the school is helping with her resume, job applications and interview prep so it sounds like the program is really invested in your success post-graduation. She's also really enjoyed all of her clinical experiences and her professors.

After interviewing at Western, I really liked the feel of the school. It felt like they had a really positive culture, but I'm honestly leaning toward Fullerton now just because it's so much cheaper. I think there's such a shortage of nurses now that we'll all be pretty employable after graduating and having a bachelors instead of an entry level masters won't make or break you. If I were certain that I'd want to pursue an NP certification, I might lean more toward Western, but even with the MSN-E, I'd still have to pay for an additional two years for an FNP program. I read somewhere that some classes from the MSN-E program might count for credits for other masters programs for nursing administration or mental health certification, but I don't know if it's worth paying double the price for Western when I'm not sure if I'll be pursuing further education after my RN.

The Western grad also said that she got a job at her last clinical rotation, and the Fullerton grad is hoping to do the same -- networking at clinical sites to secure employment. I've seen some of the hospitals for Western's rotations, and I don't think I want to work at any of them. I live in LA and grew up in OC so I'd prefer to make connections and work at Fullerton's rotation sites, like Kaiser, UCI Medical Center, St. Joseph or St. Jude.

I don't mean to sway you either way. Just wanted to pass on what I've heard and what I'm thinking.

I did also, but no email from CSUF yet

OK, I just received the email from the nursing advisor and they have received the background checks and I will be waiting for the admissions email to accept or decline. According to the email we have till May15 to accept or decline the admission

I also got an email from CSUF that I passed my background check. They said we'll receive an official acceptance email this week or next week.

Hi everyone:)

Is there anyone that was granted conditional admission to CSUF that will be declining their admission to attend another nursing program?

Just got my official acceptance letter!
