Hey guys,
I searched through the forums and couldn't find an exact answer for my question.
I'm trying to endorse from another state to CA, I graduated from an accelerated second degree program. My state is enrolled in the Nursys verification site.
My question is, do I need to submit transcripts from all the schools I took pre-reqs for the program as well? On the application it just says a transcript from the nursing school that I received my degree from (no mention of needing any other transcripts). I know from reading other threads people have had issues with pre-reqs when trying to endorse.
I'm sure other people have endorsed in a similar situation and wanted to see what you had to do.
Thanks!
Yes... mostly because of clinical requirements. I was more worried about silly things like not having a speech class. I haven't heard of anyone tryinging to endorse to CA and having problems from US schools. Just from international schools. Not to say it hasn't happened, I just haven't heard of any.
Thank u Samantha79 for the advice. And yes that was the same advice that I got when I called the CA BON. Btw, u mentioned u had to send out all ur transcripts from all the schools u went to? Did I interpret that correctly? So when we move and when I apply for my temp license and for my endorsement should I also request for my transcripts from the colleges in LA and in CA as well?
Thanks for everyone's help. I just got notification that I was assigned a permanent license. I applied on Dec 28 and got my license on the 1st of Feb, so just about 1 month...not too bad considering it was during the Holidays. I also did not do livescan but submitted fingerprint cards.
I did end up submitting transcripts from every school I took pre-reqs at, but I did not submit the transcript form from the board to everyone, I only had my nursing school fill it out.
Also, as a heads up, there's a oral communication pre-requisite requirement in California. This only applies for people who went to nursing school in California. For those who were out of state for nursing school, the oral comm isn't required (I was a little worried, since I never took an oral comm class).
I will be starting this process in December of 2013 when I graduate from a program in Louisiana. So when you apply for endorsement, do you automatically apply for a temporary license at the same time?
I am trying to decide whether to test in California or Louisiana.
Advice would be appreciated because I find the BON websites to be confusing and they always have a busy signal when I call them.

hi samantha79, I am a foreign grad, i passed the nclex rn exam already and i want to endorse myself to CA, did you heard anything from the international grad that they got denied by the CA BON cause of endorsement? thank you!
Thank you everybody for the advices!!! ^_^ i passed my nclex and i am now licensed here in Louisiana. so i am now in the process of getting all my documents lined up for my CA endorsement. I'm gonna err on the more efficient (though not necessarily the cost-effective) route. i'm taking everybody's advice... I'm jst gonna request transcripts from all the colleges I went to and I'm also gonna apply for the temp license as well. Praying that this'll help speed the process and limit the whole back and forth communications... Kinda anxious and scared about my transcript coming from Louisiana :-/ it doesn't break down my nursing classes... It jst says like nursing concept 1, 2, 3, etc for the each level that we covered. It's not as specific as I would like for it to be... Does anybody have this same problem? Because the way my school did it, is for example, for 2nd level (nursing concept 2) we covered med-surg, and starting on mental health and PEDS... And then nursing clinical 2 for the clinical part. It doesn't break it down I'm really worried about that part...
Thank you so much @samantha79 :) appreciate ur input! Btw, how long did it take u? I'm worried since Louisiana doesn't have lives scan :-/ and I jst received the fingerprint card yesterday from CA BON! -___- what's the average wait time for the temp license? Oh and as far as money order, did u guys write jst one check for the whole thing or did u guys do separate for each ones like application, temp license, etc?

Good that it worked out for you, but I'll post this as a heads-up to other applicants: even with another state license in hand, you may still need to sit for classes to get CA endorsement. That's why the CA BRN demands transcripts from endorsement applicants, because they want to make sure your program meets CA educational requirements. They don't care whether your home state or NLNAC/CCNE approved it; if it doesn't meet CA's requirements, no go on the endorsement.
This is one issue that is tripping up a lot of international as well as online program graduates.
