In California the Board states that "candidates who have not passed the examination are allowed to retake the examination up to eight (8) times per year, but not more than once every 45 day period".
Well, the statement may create in our mind that technically we can possibly and allowed to retake the test up to 8 (eight) times in case we still don't pass.....right?
But how can this possible since California is not one of the quick-result states? And usually the 'pass' or 'not passed' result would probably came but only by a regular mail in about 4 weeks.
Then do your math. We need at least 30 days after the test just to wait for the result. In case we failed and pay $75 again to the Board for retaking the exam...then we need to wait for another 3 to 4 weeks for a notification from the Board. Yes, it's around 60 days already. But we don't make appoinment for the date for our another NCLEX-PN yet.
Now let's say we need to wait for another 30 days for an available NCLEX-TEST date....then the period between the test 1 and test 2 should be 90 days in total already.
Just to ask...how can it be still possible to retake the test exactly in the 45th day?

I took my NCLEX-PN for the California BVNPT, but the testing center was located in Texas. By taking it out of state, a test date became available immediately, and I only had to wait 12 days for my results to arrive in the mail.
Always remember that you do not necessarily need to take your boards in CA, as NCLEX can be taken anywhere it is offered. The results will still go to CA, however.
Thanks, TheCommuter, for your info.
Let's say we applied and registered in California. Now, is it OK to take the test outside california?
Oh BTW, how about the people taking the challenge test for LVN; Even though they applied for the test in BVNPT california, is there any difference/limitation or something like that in case they need to take the test outside california?
Thx for your help
As I previously mentioned, NCLEX can be taken at any location in the world where it is offered.
