Hi all,

I got accepted into BSN at CSU Stanislaus. I am waiting for the package about the mandatory orientation which takes place on Aug. Is there anyone out there who got accepted into BSN last year? If yes, how do you feel about the program?

All reponses would be much appreciated,

Thanks,

TN

I've submitted most of my documents on certifiedprofile. The ones I still need to submit are my CPR/BLS and student health insurance.
I submitted everything except the healh insurance also. Did you realize that the due date was 8/17/2011 not 2012? Are you going to the boot camp? I want to but I currently live in Bay Area. I will try...
You can go on CSU Stan's website and click on the a-z index and find the WPST section. On there they have actual past essay prompts along with the student's essays so you can see what it's like. It also tells you what the two reader's of the essays will be looking for and what each score means. I took the essay and passed last November and it wasn't as bad as I thought. I'm sure you will do fine. You mentioned that you came to the U.S. 5 yrs ago but that shouldn't be a problem because for the WPST it clearly states that English as a Second Language students shouldn't be penalized "for slight shifts in idiom, problems with articles, confusion over prepositions, and occasional misuse of verb tense and verb forms, so long as such features do not obscure meaning." That was taken right from the website."They are looking for papers that focus on the question and develop an idea in an organized, informative manner. Essays must be well edited."Passing Essays:

  • Focus on the question
  • Demonstrate a purpose
  • Explain the main points
  • Have clear organization
  • Use language correctly

This too was taken from the website and if you have some time maybe you can go check out some of the sample essays and prompts. I hope that this helps.

Thanks! I went through all passing and failed essays. For some prompts, i have enough ideas to develop, but for other prompts, i am blank...If you dont mind, can you tell me what your prompt looked like? Many thanks,TN
The nursing boot camp will be held on Aug 13 from 0900-1600 and it's $20. There was a letter about it in the packet that they sent us.

I lost the letter about the nursing boot camp. Can you give me the phone number which I can contact for the boot camp. When is the deadline for it?

Thanks,

Yes I'm going to the boot camp. The letter says they would like a response by August 1st but you can still register for it the day of the boot camp. They said if there are any questions about the boot camp we can contact the nursing dept. Yea I noticed the dates say 2011 but I guess the school has to change it.

Hi Danielle or anyone who can answer my question below,

I want to ask you which WP course did you take after you passed WPST? I saw a list of WP courses, and there are 2 courses relating to nursing which are NURS 3310 and NURS 3320. Do we, as a nursing students, have to take a specific WP course?

Thanks a lot,

TN

Right now the schedule has us taking N3320 in 5th semester. I have not taken that class yet and it may change in a year especially since we heard rumors about them changing adult health II to 5th semester and community health to 4th semester.

Hi Danielle,

I got 8 points for WPST, just got the result today. What a relief! I received an email about the online medical term exam. Do we have to do the exam in a separate room or in library or anywhere within the scheduled time? Did you remember how the exam took?

Thanks,

TN

Congrats on passing the WPST! As for the medical term test, we did not take it online, ours was paper pencil. We were given it the first week of school during our Fundamentals class during a set time. I think we had 60 min but I can't remember how many questions there were, maybe 30-45?

Any more questions let me know!

Hi Danielle,

Sorry to bother you again! I just got the email from ***** ******saying: "Hello,

Please do not forget that you MUST sign up to take CPR on My office door as well as complete Part A online in order to complete CPR with me. I have attached a flyer." I completed the CPR course at the community college and it expires in 2014. Do I have to retake it?

Much appreciated,

TN

If your CPR is the one for health care workers you should not have to retake it. If you submit it to certified background and it accepts it then you are good to go. You could call the office and double check but there were a few people who were already certified in our class and did not have to retake it.

Nurse2b209,

Hi, I have a question regarding the first day of instruction for Nurs 2820 and 2000. Will the first day of those classes be on Mon 8/20 or the following Mon 8/27 since the school wont start until 8/22????

Thanks,

TN
